In addition to in-class activities, the summer programme will be completed by a number of on-site visits to different educational institutions (e.g. schools) and conversations with practitioners (educational technologist, entrepreneurs, etc). Both visits and conversations will provide the opportunity for the students to see how educational technology is incorporated in concrete educational settings.
PS: Only complete applications including all annexes submitted by the deadline will be considered for selection.
Applications are evaluated based on
Video clip (max 5 min)
The video clip is the opportunity for the applicant to provide an overall explanation as to why she/he wants to be part of the summer programme. The applicants can use the following questions:
Level: MA/PhD and advanced BA
Credits: 4 ECTS
Time: 16–25 August; 2021
Programme fee: 1085 €, without accommodation 700 €In case we will not be able to run the Summer School in August due to the COVID-19 related restrictions, we will offer an online course on Technology use in Education, which will take place from 5 to 30 of November 2021.
The course will address one of the biggest educational challenges of the present time: How can we engage with online education in meaningful ways?
The topics of the course will include: distance education, educational video-making, hyper video and collaborative video annotation, educational data mining.
The online program will be offered in real time, which provides as comparable academic experience to physical classroom as possible. The students will engage in seminars, group-works and individual assignments under the guidance of our best professors.
The online course partly overlaps with the one offered in the International Blended Master’s programme in Educational Technology here at the University of Tartu. So, it is also an opportunity for those interested in studying educational technology to see how teaching and learning educational technology is organized at our university.
Programme fee: 1085 € includes tuition, cost of the study visits, cultural and social programme, services of the host university with accommodation in double rooms.
Alternatively participants can arrange their own housing and in this case the tuition fee for the academic and cultural programme is 700 €.
Students are responsible for their travel and travel insurance (visa arrangements, if needed) from their home country to Tartu and back to their home country.
In case the Covid-19 situation does not allow us to organise a physical event, the course will take place entirely online. Course fee: 250 €.

The Centre for Educational Technology works on seven topics:
The Centre has been and is involved in many international research and development projects in Educational Technology and ICT (e.g., FP7 projects Science Created by You (SCY), Go-Lab and Ark of Inquiry [as coordinator]). Research by members of the Centre has been published in many high-level research publications and a learning module developed in partnership with the FP7 SCY project received the Science Magazine Award for Inquiry-Based Science Instruction in 2014.
Through this programme I learnt about the interdisciplinary nature of the field of educational technology. The programme also reiterated to me some important points such as technology not to be at the centre of teaching & that the aims/objectives of the lesson should decide the meaningful usage & form of technological tools. I also got introduced to some new technological ideas & tools such as AR/VR, Golabz, Sports trak app.
